Review Process
Reviewing journal manuscripts is an important professional practice that contributes significantly to the development of knowledge in the relevant field. Therefore, authors who submit manuscripts to the Pertanika Journal of Language and Humanities Education (PJLHE) are commonly also invited as manuscript reviewers for the PJLHE journal manuscripts.
Peer Review (Double-blinded Peer Review)
This journal implements a peer review process (double-blinded peer review) in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential from each other. This process is an important component of the scientific publishing and knowledge dissemination system.
Peer reviewers consist of experts in the relevant field appointed by the Editor-in-Chief to objectively evaluate submitted manuscripts. The purpose is to assess the quality of reporting and identify relevant and high-quality manuscripts for publication in the PJLHE journal.
Complete manuscripts will be evaluated through a double-blinded peer review process:
Peer reviewers are required to conduct fair and professional evaluations
Peer reviewers must not touch on the personal aspects of the authors
Peer reviewers must provide strong justification for comments given
Peer reviewers must organize comments systematically to help clarify the content of the manuscript
Any criticisms submitted should be constructive and aimed at improving the quality of the manuscript
Quality of Review
Each manuscript received will be screened first by the PJLHE Editorial Board to assess whether its content has potential for the target audience. Manuscripts that meet the guidelines and are well-structured will proceed to the peer review stage where one or two reviewers will be appointed. In certain cases, manuscripts may be referred to experts in specific fields when a more in-depth assessment is required, such as for content, statistics or specific techniques of research.
The process of appointing reviewers is done by the PJLHE Editorial Board. The process of appointing reviewers is based on the type of review needed as well as other aspects to ensure that the quality standards of the PJLHE journal are always at the best level. The individual performance of reviewers is evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and will be kept completely confidential. Reviewers must avoid any actions or statements that could reveal their identity to the authors of the manuscripts being or have been reviewed.
Reviewers are encouraged to make decisions on acceptance or rejection of manuscripts. However, the final decision on acceptance or rejection of manuscripts lies with the Editor-in-Chief, especially when there is a disagreement between reviewers. Therefore, the reviewer report will be a reference for the Editor-in-Chief to make necessary decisions. The Editor-in-Chief Periodic will conduct a structured and quality-based assessments of reviews and other aspects of performance from time to time.
